Canyoning

a sporting challenge

The Ötztal valley in the heart of Tyrol is known to many as an internationally popular winter and hiking sports area. The location in the middle of the imposing alpine world attracts sports-loving visitors here at any time of the year.

In summer and winter, hiking is especially popular, as you can discover the impressive panorama of the mountains, as well as the forests, lakes and streams at your own pace.

However, besides hiking, there is another interesting way to get to know the mountain streams of the Ötztal Alps: canyoning in the Ötztal, also called Schluchteln or Schluchting. Unconquerable gorges, mighty waterfalls, steep rock faces and various grottos - this is canyoning in the Ötztal. It is probably one of the greatest, sporting challenges in the whole Ötztal.

With a trained guide and special equipment, you're off to the start, and one thing is certain: there's no shortage of adventures here. Whether it's sliding, climbing, swimming, abseiling or jumping into the cold water from a lofty height of 10 meters, there's something for everyone here. Canyoning is also a sport where participants have to help and support each other.

An absolute MUST for outdoor adventurers

Canyoning is the perfect mix of hiking, climbing and abseiling right through the hissing foam of the waterfall into seemingly unknown depths. Best equipped and certified canyoning guides let you feel your own body down to every muscle fiber despite protective neoprene wrapping. The Ötztal valley with its various gorges, waterfalls and mountain streams is the ideal place to slowly get in touch with the wet element or to jump down from very high up. Canyoning is also possible for absolute beginners, because all you need to bring at the beginning is surefootedness, no fear of water and the will to get involved in something new. Our "adventure mountain guides" offer guided tours through the Ötztal gorges.
